Pete Winnett Art
Pete Winnett developed his love of art early on. Graduating in 1993 from NSCAD University in Halifax he moved to the Yaletown neighbourhood of Vancouver, Canada, with collectors of his artwork in Vancouver, Toronto, New York, San Francisco, London, Barcelona, and elsewhere.
Artist Statement
My artistic journey began by practicing different styles. It evolved into creating fashionable illustrations for the New York City marketplace. As the work matured, I began exploring archetypal narratives in order to create unique symbolic combinations and deeper personal significance in the paintings. I like the paintings to be expressive with free flowing natural lines. When I'm in the zone, the work is spontaneous and intuitive, with some hard edges and bold colours, pursuing a unique beauty. The art becomes a kind of alchemy between my psyche and soul.
Currently, I love painting oil portraits of interesting homes, capturing their beautiful character with an impressionist style.
